1. The Iodine- 131 isotope is used to detect and treat thyroid gland related problems.

2. The Carbon 14 isotope is used to know the age of fossils.

Actually the half life period of carbon 14 is nearly 5760 years. So by calculating the ratio of C 12 and C14 one can get the age of the fossils.

3. Nowadays radioactive pacemakers are made of plutonium 238. So it is used also to replace heart.
