In type-II multiferroics, whose ferroelectricity is due to modulated magnetic ordering, the ME coupling is of fundamental interest. Higher order ME response characterizes disordered type-III multiferroics and extends the conventional multiferroic scenario toward MEmultiglass (e.g. Sr1-xMnxTiO3) or relaxor spin glass (e.g. PbFe0.5Nb0.5O3).
