Answer:

Area of a rectangle = Length × Breadth

The room is a rectangle , so we need to find the area of the room to find the area of carpet required .

Length of the room = 4.5 m

Breadth of the room = 4 m

Area of the room =

= Length × Breadth

= 4.5 × 4

= 18 sq.m

So we know that the area of the room is 18 sq.m . Let us first change the units in metres to units in centimeters , so that it would be easy for us to find the cost of the total carpet needed .

18 sq.m in cm =

= 18 × 100

= 1800 sq.cm

Cost of carpet per sq.cm = 150 rupees

Cost of carpet for 1800 sq.cm =

= 1800 × 150

= 2,70,000

Therefore , the cost of carpeting the room will be 2,70,000 rupees .
