It came into prominence first in the eightieth century of in south Indian regions. these regions are now referred as Tamil Nadu and Kerala under their present names. they then gradually started to move towards northward and gain further popularity and followers. They believe that there is only one God and there should be no caste differentiation. There were important leaders like Shri Chaitanya, Ramananda etc.
