The percentage of C02 in alveolar air is about 5.3% whereas in expired air is about 3.6%.Carbon dioxide is constantly diffusing from the pulmonary blood into the alveoli. Hence the concentration of carbon dioxide is much more in the alveoli than in the expired air. </font>$
