The balanced equation is

NaCl+NH_3+H_2O+CO_2\longrightarrow NaHCO_3+NH_3Cl

  • The reactants are common salt(NaCl), carbon dioxide(CO₂) and ammonia(NH3) and the products are ammonium chloride(NH₃Cl) and sodium hydrogen carbonate(NaHCO₃) also known as baking soda.
  • As the aqueous solution of common salt is used, water(H₂O) will also be a reactant. So the reaction will be

            NaCl+NH_3+H_2O+CO_2\longrightarrow NaHCO_3+NH_3Cl

  • The respective number of sodium, chlorine, hydrogen, oxygen atoms are equal on both the sides of the reaction. Therefore it is a balanced equation.
