When we react Barium Chloride and Sodium Chloride Or Barium Chloride and Calcium chloride, no changes take place as there is no exchange of ion (Cl-). When we react Barium chloride with Sodium Sulphate, exchange of ions takes place. It form an insoluble precipitate (BaSO4) .

Reaction:

BaCl2 + NaSO4 ---> BaSO4 + NaCl
