  • The Kadambas are known as the originators of Karnataka architecture.
  • Some prominent features of Karnataka temples are:-
  • Presence of Nandi (bull) sculpted in black stone at the entrance of a temple.

  • The Shikara is a pyramid in shape and rises in steps in a plain manner.

  • Garbhagudi (GHARBHA means womb )may be placed, used for sangeet and bhajans.

UTTRAKHAND TEMPLES STYLES  

  • Dynasties of  Paun, Katuyari, Pawar, and Chand in Uttarakhand supported the creation of big temples.
  • Features of these temples are:-  These made of stone and wood, decorated with wood carvings.  
  • Peeth and Aipan rangoli designs were painted in the (Garbha Grihar) of Uttrakhand temples.
  • Most temples are built in Nagara architectural style is with its tall curvilinear spire ‘Sikhara’ with an ‘Amalaka’ on top of the spire.  
  • The ‘Kalasha’ design carved in the entrance of the door.
  • The temples in Uttaranchal were usually made in the Nagara style of architecture or the Garhwali Style of architecture.  
  • In Garhwali style, the temple had a lotus -shaped roof.  
  • This Sikhara over the audience hall in Punch Rath or Sapta Rath -model gives the temple a cylindrical form.  
  • The idol of the deity was made of either stone or metal and adorned with beautiful clothes and ornaments.

Similarities of Rituals in Both Karnataka and Uttrakhand are almost similar, both are influenced by Hinduism and Believes in numerous God and Goddesses, and also they strongly believe in the ceremonies of life circles from Birth ceremonies to death.
