Celebs should be held responsible for the products they endorse

Explanation:

Hello, My name is GHIJKL ABCDE, today's motion is whether celebs should be held responsible for the products they promote. I will be speaking for the motion.

Recently celebrities have faced a lot of backlash due to the products they endorse and I think it is right. Celebrities are a part of society and they are not above it. If practitioner promotes a certain sort of drug, without knowing its ill effects, then he or she will be held responsible, right. Similarly if a celebrity is doing the same then he or she is responsible.

Recently the ban on 'maggi' noodles have brought a lot of celebrities under radar. Celebrities have a huge fan following they are followed by millions of people around the globe. If a celebrity sells a product then people tend to buy it without thinking. The followers are wrong but the celebs are wrong as well.

A few days back Mr. Amitabh Bacchan stepped back from promoting pepsi, as school girl questioned health impact of the drink. We all pepsi is not a healthy drink and if consumed daily it can cause serious health problems. Here we can see that celebrities sell a product even if they know that's it not good for the society, just because the big brands pay them. Celebrities have a moral responsibility toward society. It's better to say that there responsibility is bigger as even children of impressionable age follow them.

If celebrities are held responsible for their endorsements then they'll choose brands carefully and it will benefit the people.

Hence, I rest my case.

Thank you.
