The sugar which is dissolve in water doesn't "go" anywhere. It is still in the water, though in particles far too small to be seen. As sugar dissolves, it breaks apart into individual molecules in solution. Since the resulting solution does not conduct electricity it tells us that sugar does not break apart into ions when it dissolves, but breaks apart into individual neutral molecules. It suggests that molecules are the smallest particles of some types of compounds.
