Yes humans are animals.
According to zoological concept the human being is considered to be the most intelligent and most advanced as well as the most developed creature in the world.
The homosapeins ( scientific name of human) are also referred to as social animal because they are the ones who are indulged in various sociological works and researches.

Scientists have stated that the humans are the developed phase of monkeys who had tails.
According to them the features of body which remains unused gets removed from the upgraded creature.
Similarly this led to the development of humans.

Humans are motile, they are social being , the can produce energy, the have aerobic respiratory system and are one of the most advanced organisms present in the present world.
This group comes under the class mamalia ( organisms who do not reproduce through laying eggs) under kingdom Animalia.
