the wisdom tooth is such a tooth that is actually not used as much as it might have been used as our aur ancestors..there are many other organs in the body which are not so functional and these organs are known as vestigial organs..

the wisdom tooth is helpful in chewing to an extent..

Our ancestor’s early diet of course, rough food – like leaves, roots, nuts and meats which required more chewing power and resulted in excessive wear of the teeth. The modern diet with its softer foods has made the need for wisdom teeth nonexistent. So now it is considered as vestigial organ.
