What is Saprotrophic nutrition?

\bullet The type of nutrition in which the organisms are dependent upon dead and decaying matters.

Now:

\bullet Saprophytic nutrition is also the same.

\bullet But as the term contains the word phyte which means plant, it is better to use the term saprotroph as neither bacteria nor fungi are plants.

Saprotrophic nutrition

nutrition is a process of chemoheterotrophic extracellular digestion involved in the processing of decayed (dead or waste) organic matter.

Saprophytic nutrition

In saprophytic nutrition the organisms obtain their food from dead and decaying organic matter of dead plants, dead animals and other decomposing organic matter.
