Hello, it is a pleasure to try my best to attempt to answer your question. Many times in our lives we pause and look around at the things that we achieve to gauge where we are in our lives and for our goals; the house we live in, the car(s) we drive, the job we work at, how much money is in our banking accounts. Although is this truly a good indicator of our goals and where we are?

Personally, I do not believe this to be so. Why do I say this? It is because money is always going to be produced at a rate faster than anyone can collect. So if anyone wants to achieve their goals of being rich, there will always be someone who has more money than you.

Now if money and monetary things are not what should be used to judge our positioning towards our goals, what should? I firmly believe that we should look to our selves internally and what makes us happy - truly happy. Yes, money can make you happy but only superficially and in the short term until your ‘adrenaline rush’ dies down and you have to do something else.

What you should do to gauge yourself to see if you are really working towards your dream is how do you feel. Every day when you go to bed, do you go to bed tired and happy that you accomplished something today? How about when you wake up the next day? Do you feel energized and ready to take on the world and what challenges may face you today with pride and your head held up high? If so, then you are most likely working towards your goals just fine.

Although when you slow down and you feel angry or lay in bed at night not being able to sleep or when you wake up and are groggy and are unable to get enough energy to face the day, you have to change something.

This is what is called a plateau, when you fit a time of your journey when things stop going upwards and you just keep moving at the save pace at the same level continuously. To avoid this, you must always keep challenging yourself, just like exercise, you do not become a marathon runner by running a mile every single day, you must continuously increase your milage. This is just like your journey to your goals, you must always strive to do something better than what you did yesterday, even if is just 1% because if you count all the 1’s and 2’s that you gather from increasing every single day, in one year you will be nearly twice as far as you were when you started.

But there is one more thing that makes us continue to grow that many of us seem to forget - giving back. We must give back to our family, friends and community when we are able to strive because more times than not, you were given something, information, or simply a helping hand when you most needed it. It does not have to be a lot but one of the most valuable things you can give back to the world is your time. Volunteer to a homeless shelter, food kitchen, hospital, pet shelter, anywhere. Because the principle learned from volunteering and giving back is humility to keep the image of where you started in your mind.

We are never self made in a day, I, you, or anyone was not a master of what they do in one day and many of us are still walking down the path towards master. Our journeys are always hard, there will be pitfalls, falls and you may be beat up by life but do not give up and always remember where you came from, the friends you know and the family that took care of you when you were young. These principles will keep you on your path and will help you find yourself on the gauge of finding your future.

I wish you the best of luck on your journey towards your dreams because we all need support, even the strongest walls fall without support and maintenance.
