Tethys and Dione are Saturn's moons.

  • Among the moons of Saturn, Dione is the second densest.
  • Dione is assumed to have a one-third rocky composition and two-thirds water-ice.
  • The icy composition of Dione constitutes of crated terrain with several heavily cracked areas and massive craters with diameters greater than 100 kilometers.
  • Dione and Tethys are similar in their icy composition.
  • Tethys lies in an area around Saturn that was previously accumulated with debris created by collisions between smaller and larger moons.
  • Its icy surface contains several huge craters and contains faults in the ice, a result of Tethys quakes.
