Let the breadth be = x

Length = 40 -x

Area = 400 ml\ 2

Ix b = 400

(x)(40 -x) = 400

x/\2 -40x + 400 = O

By using Identity, (a-b)/\2 = a/\2 -2ab + b/\2

answer =(x-20)^2

{l + b = 80 / 2 = 40m}

{l} = 40 - b

{l × b} = 800m²

⇒ (40 − b) b = 800

⇒ 40b − b² − 800 = 0

⇒ b² − 40b − 800 = 0

⇒ b² − 40b + 20b − 800 = 0

⇒ b (b−40) + 20 (b − 40) = 0

⇒ (b−40) (b−20) = 0

{∴ b = 20m , 40m}

When b = 20m ⇒ l = 40 − b = 40 − 20 = 20m

When b = 40m ⇒ l = 40 − b = 40 − 40 = 0m

∴ To design a park length of 20m and breadth of 40m is required.
