Answer:

Let ABC be the right angled triangle.

Given, Area of the triangle = 54 cm^2

Length of one of its side, BC = 12 cm

We know that, Area of a right angle triangle = 1/2 × b× h

= > 54 = 1/2 × AB × BC

=> 54 = 1/2 × AB × 12

=> AB = 9

Again, APPLYING PYTHAGORAS THEOREM :-

AC^2 = AB^2 + BC^2

= 9^2 + 12^2

= 81 + 144

= 225

Hence, AC = 15 cm

The length of the other side i. e. the Hypotenuse, AC = 15 cm. The length of the altitude, AB = 9 cm.
