Answer:

Length = 7 m

Breadth = 3 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Formulae : -

=> Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth

=> Permeter of rectangle = 2 ( Length × Breadth )

_________________________

Let length of rectangle be a metre

Let breadth of rectangle be b metre

GIVEN THAT:

Area of rectangle = 21m²

=> a × b = 21 m². ----------- ( 1 )

Perimeter of rectangle = 20 m

=> 2 ( a + b ) = 20 m

=> 2a + 2b = 20

=> 2a = 20 - 2b

=> a = 10 - b

Putting above value of a in ( 1 ),we get :-

=> ( 10 - b ) × b = 21

=> 10b - b² = 21

=> b² - 10b + 21 = 0

=> b² - 7b - 3b + 21 = 0

=> b ( b - 7 ) - 3 ( b - 7 ) = 0

=> ( b - 3 ) ( b - 7 ) = 0

=> b = 3 m or b = 7 m

Therefore,

a = 10 - 3 = 7 m

or

a = 10 - 7 = 3 m

Since, its given that length is greater than breadth,

ANS) Length = 7 m

ANS) Breadth = 3m

Thanks !
