Hey there!

The Area of rectangle is:

Area \: = \: length \: \times \: breadth

A \: = l \times b

LET US SEE HOW IT'S DERIVED...

Refer the picture above. ↑↑↑

Let x = length (l)
y = breadth (b)

There's Square with each side = length x + y units

Divide this square into 4 parts i.e. 2 squares and 2 rectangles.

Now,
area of the two squares are x² and y²

Also, the area of the large square = (x+y)²

Let the area of each rectangle be A. (assumption)

Now, the area of this large square = Sum of the areas of the 2 smaller squares and the 2 rectangles

(x + y)² = x² + y² + 2A.

x² + 2xy + y²= x² + y² + 2A.

2xy = 2A.

A = xy.

or

A = lb or l × b

HOPE IT HELPED ^_^
