Let Arjuns age be x

Hima's age be y

Given that,

x = 2y ... eq.01

x - 5 = 3(y - 5)

=> x - 5 = 3y - 15

=> x = 3y - 10 ...eq.02

Equating eq.01 and 02,

3y - 10 = 2y

=> y = 10

=> x = 2y = 20

Hence Age of Arjun is 20 and age of Hims is 10. (ANS)

Let the present age of Hima be x and Arjun be 2x .

Five years ago ,

Age of Hima = x - 5

Age of Arjun = 2x - 5

Five years ago age of Arjun was three times Hima's age .

 \longrightarrow 2x - 5 = 3(x - 5)

 \longrightarrow2x - 5 = 3x - 15

 \longrightarrow3x - 2x = 15 - 5

 \longrightarrow \: x = 10

Age of Arjun = 20 years

Age of Hima = 10 years
