Let Arjun's present age be x

And shriya's present age be y.

Arjun is twice as old as shriya,

x = 2y

Five years ago,their ages:-

Arjun's age = x-5

Shriya's age = y - 5

five years ago his age was three times shriya’s age.

x-5 = 3(y-5)

x-5 = 3y-15

2y-5 = 3y-15

3y-2y = -5+15

y = 10

Therefore,

The present ages of

Arjun is 2(10) = 20 years

Shriya is 10 years

Hope it helps,..

solution:

\footnotesize\texttt{Let us take shriya's age be x years. }

\footnotesize\texttt{then arjun's present age would be 2x years.}

\footnotesize\texttt{shriya's age five years ago was (x-5) years. }

\footnotesize\texttt{arjun's age five years ago was (2x-5) years. }

\footnotesize\texttt{it is given that arjun's age five.}

\footnotesize\textsf{ year ago was three times shriya's age.}

Thus,

\small\mathtt{2x-5=3(x-5) }

\small\mathtt{2x-5=3x-15 }

\small\mathtt{15-5=3x-2x }

\small\mathtt{10= x }

so,shriya's present age =x =10 Years .

therefore, arjun's present age =2x=2×10=20 years.
