Answer:

hey mate here is your answer

let Shriya's age be x and Arjun's age be 3x

their present ages can be written as x+5 and 2x+5

so,

x+3x=x+5+2x+5

=> 4x=3x+10

=> 4x-3x=10

=> x=10

Ans: so their present ages are 10 and 20 years.

hope it helps.....

Solution :

\bf{\red{\underline{\tt{Given\::}}}}

Arjun is twice as old as Shriya. Five years ago his age was three times Shriya's age.

\bf{\red{\underline{\tt{To\:find\::}}}}

Their present ages.

\bf{\red{\underline{\tt{Explanation\::}}}}

Let the present age of Shriya be r years.

Let the present age of Arjun be 2r years.

A/q

\underbrace{\bf{5\:years\:AgO\::}}}}}

The age of Shriya be (r-5) years.

The age of Arjun be (2r-5) years.

So;

\longrightarrow\sf{3(r-5)=(2r-5)}\\\\\longrightarrow\sf{3r-15=2r-5}\\\\\longrightarrow\sf{3r-2r=-5+15}\\\\\longrightarrow\sf{\pink{r=10\:years}}

Thus;

\underline{\sf{The\:present\:age\:of\:Shriya\:=r=10\:years}}}}\\\underline{\sf{The\:present\:age\:of\:Arjun\:=2r=2*10=20\:years.}}}}
