Laps are counted in rounds
So rounds = perimeter
Perimeter = 350(4) = 1400
4200/1400 = 3
She has run 3 laps

Firstly, let us know the formula to find the perimeter of a square :

Let, the length of a side of a square be a units.

Then its perimeter is = 4a units.

Given :

  • length of the square track = 350 m
  • total path covered = 4.2 km

To find :

The number of laps run to cover 4.2 km .

Now we solve the problem :

Using the formula to find perimeter of a square, we have

perimeter of the square track = 4 * 350 m

= 1400 m

= 1.4 km

i.e., in each lap, 1.4 km path is covered.

Therefore the number of laps to cover 4.2 km along the track is

= total path ÷ perimeter of the square track

= 4.2 ÷ 1.4

= 3

Hence, she ran 3 laps in total.
