The increasing order of electronegativity is given as follows:

(4) Potassium < (1) Sodium < (3) Aluminium < (2) Sulphur

K < Na < Al < S

- Electronegativity may be defined as the tendency of an element to attract the shared pair of electrons.

- As the metals like Na, K and Al generally donate electrons, their electronegativity is low.

- On the other hand, the non metals like S attracts electrons so its electronegativity is high.

- Actually, the electronegativity of  Na, S, Al and k is 0.9, 2.5, 1.5 and 0.8 respectively and hence the given order.
