(i) The numbers in ascending order are \frac{1}{5},\frac{3}{7},\frac{7}{10}

(ii) the numbers in ascending order are \frac{1}{5},\frac{7}{10},\frac{3}{7}

Step-by-step explanation:

(i) Given fractions are \frac{1}{5},\frac{3}{7},\frac{7}{10}

To arrange the given fractions in ascending order :

That is arranging the numbers from least to greatest

The given numbers can be written as decimal so that we can easily arrange it

\frac{1}{5},\frac{3}{7},\frac{7}{10} in decimals 0.2,0.42,0.7 respectively

Already it is in ascending order therefore there is no change

Therefore the numbers in ascending order are \frac{1}{5},\frac{3}{7},\frac{7}{10}

(ii) Given fractions are \frac{2}{9},\frac{2}{3},\frac{8}{21}

To arrange the given fractions in ascending order :

That is arranging the numbers from least to greatest

The given numbers can be written as decimal so that we can easily arrange it

\frac{2}{9},\frac{2}{3},\frac{8}{21} in decimals 0.22,0.66,0.38 respectively

Now arrange the decimals in ascending order as  0.22,0.38,0.66

Therefore the numbers in ascending order are \frac{1}{5},\frac{7}{10},\frac{3}{7}

Question:-

Arrange the following in descending order:

(i) 2/9, 2/3, 8/21 (ii) 1/5, 3/7, 7/10

Answer:-

(i) 2/9, 2/3, 8/21 = (2 * 7, 2 * 21, 8 * 3)/63 [LCM (9, 3, 21) = 63]

= (14, 42, 24)/63

= 14/63, 42/63, 24/63

Now, 42/63, 24/63, 14/63 [Arrange in descending order]

So, 2/3, 8/21, 2/9

(ii) 1/5, 3/7, 7/10 = (1 * 14, 3 * 10, 7 * 7)/70

= (14, 30, 49)/70

= 14/70, 30/70, 49/70

Now, 49/70, 30/70, 14/70 [Arrange in descending order]

So, 7/10, 3/7, 1/5
