The order of the pkb will be C6H5NH2 > NH3 > C2H5NH > (C2H5)2NH.

Explanation:

  • The basicity of the bases is inversely proportional to the pKb of the compound.
  • This means that the higher the pKb, the weaker is the base and vice versa.
  • The alkyl groups has inductive effect which means it will push electron to nitrogen and make it's lone pair more available and make it a stronger base.
  • So the trend will be
  • NH3 < C2H5NH < (C2H5)2NH
  • Now the benzene ring takes the electron in its ring for resonance.
  • So the final trend will be
  • C6H5NH2 < NH3 < C2H5NH < (C2H5)2NH.
  • So the pKb trend will be
  • C6H5NH2 > NH3 > C2H5NH > (C2H5)2NH.
