To arrange :  following numbers in the descending order .

Given data : \frac{3}{5}, \frac{7}{8}, \frac{6}{9}, \frac{4}{7}

Solution :

  • To arrange numbers in descending order is to write number from bigger to small .
  • Therefore , to arrange given rational numbers in the descending order we need to equalize denominators of all the rational numbers by takin LCM .
  • Therefore , LCM = 2520
  • Now , multiplying numerators by same numbers as multiplied by denominator to make LCM .
  • Therefore, we get , \frac{3\times504}{2520},\frac{7\times 315}{2520},\frac{6\times280}{2520}, \frac{4\times 360}{2520}

                                       = \frac{1512}{2520} , \frac{2205}{2520} , \frac{1680}{2520}, \frac{1440}{2520}

         Hence , Descending order is :  \frac{2205}{2520} >\frac{1680}{2520} >\frac{1512}{2520} >\frac{1440}{2520} or

                                                               \frac{7}{8} > \frac{6}{9} > \frac{3}{5} > \frac{4}{7}
