arithmetic progression is totally conceptual and you need to learn the formulas .

TO FIND THE TERM

Tn = a +(n-1)d

where a is the first term , n is the no. of terms and , d is the common difference .

let's take an AP : 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9

HERE first term (a) is 1 and the (nth) term or last term is 9 .(d) the common difference is the difference between the consecutive terms , say 2-1=1 so, d=1.

here you can find the total no. of terms in this AP

by applying formula

Tn=a+(n-1)d

9=1+(n-1)×1

so, 8=n-1

so, n=9 ....

this is the you can learn AP ...it is totally based on simple concepts .

similarly for the sum of terms in AP you have formula ;

Sn =n/2{2a+(n-1)d}

Or ,

Sn=n/2{a/2+l/2} Where l is the last term of AP .
