Undoubtedly, corruption is a danger to the nation and the society, and we are very rightly opposing it. I have read a number of articles on corruption and its impact on society and how we can build a corruption-free society. Thanks to Anna Hazare, Arvind Kejriwal and their team members, at least an anti-corruption has been started in India. Every one of us is ready to only talk about corruption but no one is really ready to do anything to change the system for better. We as members of society are more responsible for corruption than any politician and bureaucrat of the country. In FocusBut if you say so, people will start opposing you. The whole agitation against corruption-free India is a myth. Reasons are very simple: just by changing the government you cannot change the system and society. All these agitations led by Anna Hazare, Arvind Kejrival and Baba Ramdev are not against the corruption and corrupt people of the society, but against the Congress-led UPA government. We are made to believe UPA-led government at the Center is most corrupt on the basis of CAG reports. But we must know that none of governments in the country can claim to be clean. If you read the CAG reports of different states including UP, Karnataka, AP, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, you will find that there is corruption in one form or other. All the parties are following corrupt practices for their betterment and none of them is any different from the other. Then why oppose only Congress-led UPA government. Why we are not opposing all the parties including BJP, BSP, SP DMK, JDU and others for the same very reasons that there is corruption in their governments too.How many of us can claim that we haven’t done anything wrong as far as corrupt practices are concerned. Forget whether we are government employees or working for private firms. Forget whether we have our own small business. Let us start from very small points. We need some certificate and it takes minimum 2-3 days to get that certificate from a government office; most of us pay something to get a favor in the form of getting that certificate in 2-3 days. If we fail to pay up, the certificate will be delayed. How many of us opposed to paying upfront? You need a municipality person to visit your place to sort out drainage problems. You pay, even though a small amount, because you know he will not come otherwise. You paid him and he visited your area and sorted out things; now you are a happy person. You desperately need a train ticket but there is no availability. You boarded a train and paid a hefty amount to TTE and you would find a seat. You didn’t even bother to think about the person who had booked ticket before you. You got his seat, anyway.Electricity theft is another example that is prevalent across the country. We are not ready to pay our bills. In Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal is campaigning against the payment of ‘inflated’ electricity bills. You ask for bill at any grocery shop, but they will refuse to produce one. No one cares why he the grocer didn’t provide the bill.  Simply, because all of us want to save a few bucks including the grocer. Now tell me you all: are we really fighting the corrupt system in right way. What you will achieve after such fight against corruption? We are not going to get anything. We are equally responsible for most of the vices in the system.First, we should bring a change in ourselves then only we can change the system as a whole. It is better to fight with ourselves first. A corruption-free nation will be born only after that. Planning an agitation, blocking roads, and creating havoc will do no good to our country.
