Answer:

How are math and art linked? In a number of ways, many more than you might even think. When we think of art, our minds might automatically lead to visual art- ethnic folk art like Madhubani, Tanjore and Kalamkari. Well mathematics is present in each and every one of these, along with many other art forms like theatre, dance, music and so on. The precision of mathematics as a subject is like no other and thus we can find it all around us in our daily lives.

We, at the Mathematical Sciences Foundation strongly believe that mathematical skills must not be imparted in a stagnant manner. The fear of math as a subject arises from the way it is taught, and if not done with an innovative and open mind, can lead to a wide and insurmountable gap of knowledge. We help teachers and students think out of the box with our innovative learning programmes which address the needs of society and education.

Our experts are continuously devising methods of making the teaching of mathematics more fun for both teachers and students. We are now happy to introduce our training programme for teachers on art integrated education as per the new teaching guidelines issued by CBSE.

The term “mathematical beauty” has been coined by the notion that mathematicians can derive an aesthetic sense of beauty from the work they have accomplished, as well the subject as a whole. Historically, ancient Indian theorists believed that the mathematical laws of rhythm and harmony contributed not only to their understanding of the world but the well-being of humankind. In modern times, geometric and computer generated art or “computer art” is solely based on mathematic equations and has taken the world by storm.

Education must be imparted creatively, methods of art integrated education would thus be beneficial in holding students’ attention as well as aiding them to understand concepts more comprehensively. While delving into the role of mathematics in music and dance, keeping time is the most important element in both art forms. Western music theory, which is based on time and frequency has been incorporated with the Fibonacci Sequence, ranging from geniuses like Mozart to Leonardo da Vinci. There are many such examples which may be used while teaching mathematics which come under the vast umbrella of art integrated education.
