Media Impact on teenager

By - (your name)

Social media can have a huge impact on teenagers. It's not just a matter of not getting enough sleep or being distracted throughout the day — social media can have long-term detrimental consequences on a teen's mental health.

The adolescent brain is more sensitive to time spent online since it is still developing. Because kids can struggle to self-regulate their screen usage, their exposure – and the danger of injury – grows. As a result, teen social media use is frequently linked to:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • low self-confidence
  • envy
  • loneliness.

Because adolescence is a period when peer interactions are especially essential, there may be peer pressure to be online.

While experts are only beginning to investigate the link between depression and social media, what they've found implies that increasing social media use can exacerbate depressive symptoms. Teens who are affected by this experience an increase in loneliness and a decrease in social activities.

Anxiety is another factor. Many teenagers are obsessed with their social media accounts and content, which puts them under a lot of pressure to answer fast, upload flawless photographs with clever titles, and, of course, acquire a lot of likes. When you add in cyber-bullying and other offensive online behaviors, it's simple to see why social media generates so much anxiety among teenagers.

There are numerous advantages to using social media, and it is critical for teenagers to get social media knowledge in order to prepare for adulthood, where social media will undoubtedly remain a significant part of daily life. You can help your kid discover the perfect balance between social media and their mental health by working with them.

By- ABC

Teenagers today depend on the media for information on everything like latest gadgets, fashion trends, new cars etc. in the market. The effect of media on teenagers is far reaching. It almost controls the minds of teenagers like a giant remote control.

Due to the effect of media, the teenagers are proved to act violently. Watching too much of T.V. takes the children away from school work. The children should be supervised by their elders while watching T.V. or internet. It is also found that those who watch T.V. for a long hours develop obesity. Advertisements and movies bring some bad habits like smoking, use of drugs and alchol. Thus, we can say that T.V. can be an educational tool if used wisely and supervised by parents. So, if we use the media in a right manner it can prove to be a boon. But if it is not used wisely, it can be a curse for the society.
