Governments are created for the sole purpose of governing the people who either created it or placed their confidence on the men and women who form the institution. They are the leaders. Leaders make the government function, for better or worse.
To trim it down more specifically, when the leader no longer serves the interests of the governed or when the people have lost their confidence on the ruler, it is just proper that he be removed. That is democracy in action. But when a nation starts chucking one leader after the other, the situation deteriorates and the government seizes to exist as a fully working institution.
Recently, the Congress of the Republic of ePhilippines impeached then President Bunaly because of corruption and his failure to fulfill his duties. In his place Big Boy Bulley was installed as president. The nation rejoiced as one dark chapter in the Republic's history ended.
Now ePhilippines is facing yet another impeachment. The man who replaced is now himself to be replaced, and for reasons that are still unclear to everyone. It appears that the congress is keen on exercising its powers on removing the president. One can say that today, our nation is still in the same dark chapter that it left "allegedly" two months ago.
The Congress must release first to the public, a concrete and reliable reason behind this new move on impeachment. The public deserves to know what is happening.
The Congressmen should also remember that the country has had enough politics, and it needs more concrete improvements than crass politics.
How can the nation move forward if its leaders' minds are narrow? This impeachment also brings into question as to what is the motive behind such move. Is it a foreign attempt of intervention and destroying the Nationalist spirit, so that they may start siphoning gold from our small nation into their pockets? The possibilities are endless.
It is important that we have a stable government, so that more from it may come. If the Congress continues on impeaching all leaders, through conspiracy or act of goodwill, then it is better if we had no government at all.
