Surely it is true that old people are light in houses who always show a ray of light. Old people have much more experience than anyone else in a house as they had many years in that house almost 60 to 65 years.
As long you live , the more you get experience. Adolescents or adults are believed not to have much experience as the old people & that is why the wording of the most senior in a family are heard at first. They have the experience of the mystacles that they had already faced in their life at some point & now want no one to face them & for that they show us the right way for the right action.
There is nothing wrong if they are considered a ray of light , as, acting like a ray of light they show path to their family members as well as the society for a better tomorrow. By following to the wordings of old people , we can build up a better tomorrow by improving our present.
