In the twenty first century, man is enjoying the creature comforts of life; a comfortable lifestyle, wide variety of food, good education,highly-paid jobs and so on. All this has come through the development of products and processes in the twentieth century. In the warmer climates, air-conditioners keep purring away, rendering physical comfort, while in the cooler climates central heating systems make living in warmth a routine affair.Efficient automobiles and an equally efficient public transport system make movement from one place to another smooth and enjoyable. Air and rail travel have also become better in terms of speed and comfort. Fusion cuisine has added spice to life, as it combines elements of different culinary traditions.
However, all of the above has made man pay a heavy toll on his daily life. He works like a cog in the wheel, in the relentless pursuit of a better lifestyle. He sacrifices quality family life to climb up the career ladder. He and his family have become immensely materialistic, sometimes leaving their value system behind. Man has today become an automaton, who has lost the art of conversation, generally has no interest in literature and cares very little for the economically challenged. The fast-food generation is struck by obesity in epidemic proportions and stress related ailments are commonplace. Humanity must arrest this free fall, or else the human race will be reduced to machines.
