school has decided to launch a “
Road safety Week”
campaign with the aim of raising awareness among the students on the need to be moreresponsible on the road.Why do road accidents occur? One of the causes of the road accidents is becausethe road users or the students do not use the overhead bridge available while crossing thebusy road. These students think that using the overhead bridge will waste their time andthey tend to take risks by running across the road. Their action is very dangerous to them asthey might be hit by the speeding vehicles. So, students are advised to use the overheadbridge or zebra crossing where available when crossing the busy road.Riding bicycles side by side in the middle of the road is another cause of roadaccidents. This is very dangerous because they might be hit from the back by other vehicles.To avoid this from happening, they have to follow the flow of the traffic and cycle in asingle file along the road.Apart from that, students might be the victims of road accidents if they play on theroad. They enjoy themselves running, talking and joking with one another while crossing theroad without realising the dangers that they might face. So, students are advised to becareful when walking or crossing the road as it is not a playground.Finally, the other cause of road accidents is the students are not being alert whenusing the road. They tend to talk with one another while walking along the road or whilecrossing the road. Sometimes they do not aware of the oncoming vehicles and their carelessactions might cause unfortunate accidents to happen.Putting it in a nutshell, it is really important that all the road users follow the roadsafety rules in order to prevent road accidents

. So, it is safer to follow these rules than to be sorry. We should remember that safetyis our responsibility.
