Nature: A Borrowed Gift
Nature has been taken for granted by human beings. We use and misuse them. Everything we've touched- land, water, animals- we've left it ruined. In such a context, it is a relatively new idea to think about natural resources as not something we have earned from our previous generations but something we have borrowed from the future ones. These are not resources that we have a right over to exhaust, rather what we have responsibility over to return.
Taking this perspective helps us to understand the situation from a more holistic approach. It makes us conscious of our actions and reminds us that we are going to pay the price if we aren't judicious. Accountability is an important element here. For all this time, human beings have exploited the planet as if it was always theirs. The minute we realize that it is not, our actions become filtered. It is no news that if we aren't careful it isn't going to take long for our tanks to dry up and our lives to end. Each one thinks that it's the other's problem forgetting that the change we can bring together can never be equal to the difference someone can bring alone.
