Answer:

The world might not look the same on the other side of the coronavirus pandemic. Nations need to increase the budget for health, science and technology, education and increase focus on sustainable development.

People might be suspicious of foreign environments, of shaking hands and sitting together even after the lockdown is lifted.

Citizens of Generation-Z, those born in this century, have never seen a situation as grave as the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, the last time there was a pandemic in India, it was in 1918 when the Spanish flu broke out. In that sense, even the generation prior to Gen Z hardly saw a lockdown on this huge scale. Of course, politically speaking, there was the Emergency imposed by then-prime minister Indira Gandhi - a period of suspension of all civic rights and liberties that lasted for 22 months, but that is hardly comparable to a pandemic scenario.

Cut to 2020, the start of a new decade, and we find ourselves locked down. We are watching state television, relying only on government news information and looking up to civil servants and policemen. Of course, the fight this time is against SARS-CoV-2 that has claimed more than two lakh lives globally. The “imported” virus has made most nations seal their borders, look at foreigners with scepticism, change their trading policies, retreating in many ways from the means of globalisation. After Trump’s US, Putin’s Russia and Maduro’s Venezuela, more nations are turning inwards.
