Artificial pacemakers are used for heart patients and the battery used is made out of lead because the estimate of these batteries are assumed to be for 8-10 yrs. There are different types of batteries that can be used for operating the system. If the batteries are about to get over then one can replace the old pacemaker with a new pacemaker by local anesthesia.
