Arvind is 8 years older than his sister. In three years , he will be twice as old as his sister. How old are they now?

Let- age of his sister be x.

So, the age of Arvind will be=x+8

After 3 years

The age of his sister=x+3

The age of Arvind=x+8+3

                             =x+11=2[x+3]

EQUATION-

2[x+3]=x+11

=2x+6=x+11

=2x-x=11-6

=x=5

So the age of his sister now is 5 years and the age of Arvind is 5+8=13years.

arvind age = (x+8) years

In three years, sister's age= (x+3) years

In three years, arvind age = (x+8+3)years

According to statement

x+8+3= 2(x+3)

x+11= 2x+6

x-2x= 6- 11

-x=-5

x=5

sisters age= 5 years

arvind age= 5+8= 13 years
