Answer: The selling price of the watch would be 270

Step-by-step explanation:

Let cost price of watch be x and selling price be y.

Loss%= (c.p-s.p)/c.p*100

According to the first condition:

10= (x-y)/x*100

x=10x-10y

x=10/9*y

If he had sold it for 54 more, he would have made 8% profit. Now,

Profit%= (s.p-c.p)/c.p*100

According to the second condition:

8= (y+54-x)/x*100

8x=100y+5400-100x

108x-100y=5400

Plugging the value of x in the above equation, we get:

108*10/9*y-100y=5400

120y-100y=5400

20y=5400

y=270
