Answer:

Let the CP be x.

according to the question,

x(1-10/100)+54=x(1+8/100)

90x/100+54=108x/100

54=108x/100 - 90x/100

54=18x/100

x=54*100/18=300

therefore CP=300

SP=Cp - loss

=300(1-10/100)

=300*90/100

=270 Rs

Answer:

Selling price would be 270

Step-by-step explanation:

Suppose x be the original cost of the watch,

If loss% = 10%,

New cost = x - 10% of x

= x - 0.1x

= 0.9x

If selling price = 0.9x + 54,

⇒ Profit = 0.9x + 54 - x = 54 - 0.1x

\text{Profit}\% =\frac{\text{profit}}{\text{cost price}}\times 100

=\frac{ 54 - 0.1x}{x}\times 100

According to the question,

\frac{5400-10x}{x}=8

5400 - 10x = 8x

5400 = 18x

\implies x =\frac{5400}{18}=300

Hence, the selling price of the watch = 0.9(300) = 270
