Answer:

Because to resonance effect  in phenol and C-O bond is very strong as it has a partial double bond character.

Due to this the bond cannot be broken by the action of H_{2} SO_{4}

This is the reason for Aryl halides cannot be prepared by the action of sodium halide.

Aryl halides cannot be prepared by the action of sodium halide in the presence of h2so4 due to the resonance of the carbon oxygen bond.

  • Aryl halide is an aromatic compound in which a halide replaces one or more hydrogen atoms which are directly bound to an aromatic ring
  • The carbon-oxygen bond in the phenols has a partial double bond due to resonance  and the single bond is stronger than the carbon oxygen.
