The divide and rule policy adopted by the colonial rulers broke the spirit of unity amongst citizens of Philippines.

I would hope that the new government will make Philippines a united nation.

I would also hope that they will maturely handle the past conflicts and bring a new era of nonviolence.

I would hope that the new democratic leadership does justice to the oppressed sections like farmers and students who suffered badly under dictatorial rule.
