because he was very enterprising child who used to make full use of oppurtunities that came his way.During the war, when the trains halt at Rameswaram was suspended, so bundles of newspapers were thrown off moving trains and haspd to be collected. Samsudin who used to distribute newspapers , give kalam work of catching bundles from moving trains.Thus , he was able to earn his first wages. he was extremeley happy to earn money by himself. The incident shows that he was very enterprising.

Kalamś childhood was safe and happy one. During war time, the express train which brings newspapers did not stop at Dhanushkoti.One of the relatives of kalam was the newspaper agences.He was a need of a boy to receive the newspaper from the moving train and distribute the paper to the respective customers.Abdul kalam filled the vacancy and recieved the bundles of papers flung through a window .A little later the same paper were distributed ti the respective customers .At a tender age he understood the importance of money .He used his earnings to support the family.
