When magma rises from deep within the earth and explodes out of a volcano, it is called lava, and it cools quickly on the surface. Rock formed in this way is called extrusive igneous rock. ... This magma will also cool, but at a much slower rate than lava erupting from a volcano.

ANSWER:

When lava continues to cool and harden on the surface of earth, it eventually forms igneous rocks.

EXPLANATION:

The igneous rocks such as granite are formed when the magma under the earth's surface erupts and eventually gets cooled. The cooling of magma results in the crystallizing of minerals during the melting process.

The crystallized minerals then get separated from the melting and over the years it gets hardened and solidified and becomes rocks.
