Explanation:

Decomposition is the method of breaking down organic materials into simpler organic matter. The system is part of the nutrient cycle and is necessary to reuse the finite matter that fills the biosphere's physical space. Shortly after death, bodies of living organisms start to decompose.

Organisms doing this are referred to as decomposers. Although no two species decompose in the same manner, they all undergo the same decompositional sequential stages. The rate at which decomposition occurs varies greatly. Factors including temperature, humidity, and death season all decide how easily a fresh body skeletonizes or mummifies.

Decomposition:

Decomposition is the process by which the complex organic matters that are no longer needed are broken down into the simpler ones utilizing enzymes secreted by various microorganisms. This process of decomposition needs particular conditions like:

  • Decomposition is favoured by increased temperature. But, increasing temperature too much will decrease the decomposition. Optimum temperature of 40 to 60°C is needed for high rate of decomposition.
  • Decomposition needs a humid climate and a lot of water. But, the submerged condition again slows down the decomposition. A perfect mixture of air and water is needed.

Decomposition produces very short chain oligosaccharides, lipid chains or fatty acids and amino acids. Many times these are further broken down to ammonia, carbon dioxide and water which are returned to soil and air.
