The woman does not like the mirror and yet cannot keep away from it because it is also a form of introspection, to meditate upon one's self as reflected in the mirror. The mirror is made of silver and its reflection is exact. It does not have preconceptions, it swallows whatever it sees immediately, without the cloud of love or dislike to colour its perception. It presents the truth, it is not cruel and most of the time it meditates on the opposite wall. The most important thing about the mirror is its reflection of truth, there is no way in which a mirror can lie to the person standing in front of it unless the people manage to delude themselves. Feelings of inadequacy and insecurity as a woman are some of the key tenets that the feminism aims to understand, the sources of it and why women come to feel that way, as shaped by the social structures they inhabit. The mirror is the element which makes them realize that the truth that they see in the mirror is far superior than the lies that they concoct to make themselves feel better.
