This is a very touching story of 2 young gentlemen. They aren't an adult but they behave like mature adults. They are very much responsible and hardworking. Well let me first introduce u with these 2 young boys before moving forward. They are 2 little brothers one of 13yrs ie Nicola, the elder brother and the other one Jacobo, the younger brother of 12yrs. In their first meeting with the author, they were of a very shabby look. One wearing a cut off khaki pants and the other one wear a shortened army tunic gathered in loose folds about his skinny frame with their tangled hair and dark earnest eyes which strangly attracted the author. At that time they both were selling wild strawberries. And after some time, the author saw them working as a shoe shiner boy. So asked them about this and they gave a very inspiring ans ie - ' we do many things Sir' . This shows their hardwork and their struggles. Then they glanced at author hopefully saying that, ' we often show visitors through the town...to Juliet's tomb ....and other places of interest." They said in a hope that the author will hire them and they will get some more work. They did a no of work.
One night the author saw them in the deserted square resting on the stone pavements beneath the lights, waiting for the last bus from Padua so that they can sell their news papers. See how hard they r working! Even in the night also they r working!!

Seeing that the author once asked them that they work so hard and do a no. Of works, so must be for saving? And they answered so comfortably ' just plans sir ' and also that they aren't complaining. This shows that how determined they are towards their work. When the author asked them if he could help them on any. Then Nicola said that ' every Sunday we make a visit to the country, to Poleta, 30km from here. Usually we hire bicycles . But Tom, since u r so kind, u might send us in ur car.' And so the author did. Now comes the secret of their struggles and hardships. The 2 brother went inside a hospital and the nurse their told the author about their story. She said that, the sweet girl inside the room sitting with the 2 boys is their sister, Lucia. She is a TB patient and is there in the hospital since one year and has recovered a lot now. The hospital needs to be paid it's fees and her 2 young brothers pay it every weekend. She said that she don't know what they do for it, but she knows it very well that whatever they do, they do their best and this is true.Their father was a reputed singer and so the daughter. But he died in the early part of the war. Their mother died before that. This shows that how faithful, trusted, loving, determined and hardworking the boys are !!
