as we know that all matter in our surroundings is made up of protons, electrons and neutrons. then why wood doesn't conduct electricity?

To conduct electricity , materials either have  to have free moving electrons or ions. Materials like wood, fabric, etc. dont have any free moving electrons unlike metals and they cant even lose electrons because their electronegativity is far too high , hence wood is a bad conductor of electricity .
