1.Sunshine - Nevada and Arizona average around 300 days a year of sun. While this may not seem pleasant to a few people, many who live in the Midwest or the Pacific Northwest would love to live in such a climate.
2.Natural beauty - Many areas of the desert possess vast amounts of natural beauty. The Grand Canyon, Zion National Park and many areas of the Sahara in Africa are perfect examples of this. The roots of their culture may be in the desert in which they live - Many natives (The Navajo, The Berbers, The Tuareg in Mali and Mauritania, etc) are desert people. While their ancestor were nomadic and moved throughout the deserts, their descendants live primarily in populated areas in those same deserts.
3.Less crowded - By necessity, most areas of the desert are far less crowded than are many more temperate regions of the world. Many people enjoy this as less crowding means:More room - Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Phoenix are gigantic cities which sit in the middle of vast deserts. Since they are so large, there is more than enough room in and around them to easily accommodate the numbers of people who choose to live in them. Many homes in the American West's deserts have larger yard than those of three or four homes in Eastern or Midwestern cities. What they may lack in resources they may make up in room to grow and for the residents to have their own "space."
